Sarah Ruiz, Ph.D.

Sarah Ruiz, Ph.D., is a Senior Program Officer at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), Healthcare Delivery, and Disparities Research. Previously, she served as the Associate Director for Research at the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR), a component of the Administration for Community Living (ACL) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Dr. Ruiz is the recipient of several local and national awards during her time at HHS. From 2016-2021, Dr. Ruiz received four awards recognizing her exceptional contributions to disability research at ACL and the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the National Institutes for Health (NIH). In 2020, she was recognized as a 40 under 40 AFCEA awardee for her work advancing technology and community living for people with disabilities. Her research interests lie at the intersection of aging and disability health equity for underserved communities and communities of color. She is a subject matter expert on the integration of evidence-based programs, practices, and policies across clinic and community settings. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Gerontology from University of Southern California.
